Business Centre A class "Zinger House". Saint Petersburg, Russia

"House singer", as well familiar to Petersburgers as the House of books, was originally conceived as a business center. In 1902 a German firm on manufacture of sewing machines "singer" bought a plot of land in the city center to build the building, which had planned to place a shop, the local Board is "singer", offices and other commercial premises.

The business center building area of 7000 sq m was built in 1902-1904 by architect P. Y. Suzor. For the first time in Russia Suzor used a steel frame filled with brickwork in cement. This solution allowed the builders to construct huge Windows that defined the style and appearance of the facade. The house of books is one of the earliest buildings in the art Nouveau style.

In 2006 in the renovated "House singer" has again opened a House of books and a business center. During the reconstruction preserved the historic facade, the interiors and decorative elements. In the building there are two new ladders that comply with the current fire protection requirements, equipped with modern lifts. Without breaking the harmony of historic interiors, the builders entered into the existing walls of the new system of air conditioning, ventilation and fire suppression.
